American Idol S05E11 - Top 24: Top 12 Girls

12 girls perform, 10 move on.

just in case we weren't sure, ryan reminds us that THIS, is aMMMerican idol. the "dawgpound"'s still there. damn.

we get a recap of the girls' journeys to the top 24.

1) mandisa - "never" by heart. she's a cali-girl, but now is oficially a nashville-ian. she wants to show that sistas can rock. and she did. that was very fun. i don't know how her "fanbase" will take this side of her, but she was very good. the outfit was horrendous. but the performance was good. paula's wrong. i have no idea what paula was talking about. mandisa and simon are practically dating. gross. i am slightly disturbed by her...

2) kellie - "how far" by martina mcbride. she doesn't really have a love life. well, i'm free! she's very cute. but she's got wierd hand movements. and she's singing a love song for her father. it was a'ight. i mean, there were some bad parts, vocally, but all in all, i think she did a good job. paula thinks she sucked, but that her personality that will take her through. kellie's "monsterrr! was cute. she's "really nervous". lol. she rambles about something, but is totally cute.

3) becky - "because the night" by patti smith. "but paula believed in me". huh? she chose the song because it was on the first cd she ever got. i thought i'd like her. i don't. luckily for her, she's pretty and hot. god that sucked. it was not unbelieveably terrible, but there was nothing good about it. that song sucked too. that last note was BAD. the dawgpound's back. ugh. paula hates her. simon's hot for her.

4) ayla - "reflection" by christina aguilera. she's much taller than ryan. if you don't know, she's a basketball player. the whole narration thing SUCKS. she likes the film mulan. she played boys' football? now THAT would be hot. she looks uglier than what i remembered. hmmm. the performance was pretty good. her eyes were closed for too much time. but it was good. the judges were pleasently surprised. i sort of agree.

5) paris - "midnight train to georgia" by gladys knight & the pips. she's from georgia. she was too perky and happy for a relatively sad song. BUT, she was great. i LOVE the song choice for her. she's pretty cute. that really was great. best yet, and it's not even that close. randy was surprised, and was blowen away. paula's wearing no hat, but it's off to her. and she noticed she managed to avoid a wardrobe malfunction. lol.

6) stevie - "to where you are" by josh groban. she was trained in opera. her initial audition SUCKED. and she sings an opera song. WHY ON EARTH WOULD SHE DO THAT??? she wants to be the female josh groban. hi. i'm bored. i mean, really, REALLY bored. nothing good about it. i was surprised someone was still awake when she finished. i really hope she leaves, so that we aren't punished by another "opera infused" snoozer. randy was daydreaming. paula listened. simon thought she messed it up. i hated it. and she says she WILL bring it. and simon's obnoxious.

ryan says he's taller than tom cruise, and stevie says he might have a chance with her. ugh. just, ugh. and THEN, ryan says they'll "take a BREAK, and be right back". ugh. just, ugh.

7) brenna - "you are the sunshine of my life" by stevie wonder. i HATE her. "bling bling, and shine on". I HATE HER. she has a "sad" story about her middle name being mema. that was AWFUL. just awful. she can't perform for shit, and her voice isn't all that good. and she was pitchy. REALLY pitchy. the "stay around" at the end SUCKED big hairy diamond balls. she SUCKS. randy thought it was safe, but that the last note was good. huh? and paula talks about humble pie. huh? simon thought it was horrible. lol at the wild cat with gloves, coat and hat. lol! and she talks back. i HATE her. simon and her were both born on oct 7. oh god... i HATE her.

8) heather - "when you tell me that you love me" by diana ross. i used to think she's pretty. now i think she's pretty hot. but NOT pretty. her name's heather COCKs. her voice was "shot" at the end of hell week. and she's so blessed by something. that song choice SUCKS. and she's a crazy idol stalker. she has wierd singing faces. and zero stage presence. she didn't blink. it was pretty bad. i dunno. randy thought it was boring and pitchy. that makes 2 of us. paula agrees. that makes 3 of us. simon thought it was forgettable. lol at his analogy.

we get some funny moments next - ryan asks heather if she's alright, and she says yes. simon says she needed an excuse, and should have said no. then heather says no. simon says that's a good girl. ryan says simon should have worn a t-shirt under the sweater, but we all make mistakes. lol. and then, when we come back from the break, ryan tells everyone to relax, and that randy's got some baby oil and is going to luge around the set. GROSS!!!!!!!

9) melissa - "when the lights go down" by faith hill. how did fugly melissa compete in beauty pageants? her audition wasn't good. she's a bum-lovin' girl? does that means she likes big butts, or that she likes to take it up the ass? i think simon got it right the first time - 6 out of ten. a bit less. just average. nothing bad about it,but it didn't stand out. too many yeah-yeah-yeah's. and she sang "when the la-y-a-y-a-y-ts go down". randy takes about five minutes to get started. randy's right. paula's wrong. simon's in the middle. and then she complains she wasn't shown yet.

10) lisa - "i am changing" by jennifer holliday. she talked about something in the intro, but i didn't care to pay attention. she performs like a veteran. and her voice sounds great. and she's on pitch, throughout. and she's very good. not as good as the fun 16 yr old, but still very very good. RANDY rambles, not paula. and then paula rambles. simon agrees with me! lol. he says that she made older girls look bad. i sorta said that.

11) kinnik - "get here" by oleta adams. what sort of a name is kinnik? she shouted in her audition. she said "alita". not oleta, "alita". her mouth's HYOOOGE. that song's been done so many times, it's boring. too many runs. didn't care for the arrangement either. i thought it pretty much stunk. some pitch problems too, i thought. randy says it's 6 outta 10, and was pitchy. paula thought it was great, obviously. simon didn't think it was stunning, and that it was cabaret.

12) katharine - "since i fell for you" by barbara streisand. she's got the pretty/cute/hot thing going on for her. i like her. she looks up to babs. ugh. she does a fantastic job. she just seems so comfortable on stage. vocally great. paula was diggin' it. i was too. really, really great. randy thought it was hot. or maybe he thought katharine's hot. i dunno. and she does a little dance when the "dawgpound" cheer. cute! randy called it amazing. paula loves her job. and rambles about something about tapping something. i dunno. simon thought that 4 were very good tonight, and she was the best. kat (her name from now on) is so cute! when ryan asks her how she feels, she says it's great and flings her arms around. cute! she's really cute! she apologizes for the ones behind her for having to stare at her butt the whole time. lol! cute!

over the credits, i was drooling at the image of kellie jumoing on kat and hugging her, and then the two of the dancing together. :(________) (tried to do a jaw dropped smiley, didn't really work...)
