American Idol S04E40 - Top 2: The Finale

2... (vonz's out). wait, did you say 2? yeah, i did... so, it's like the finale? well, blimey, i guess it is!

simon looks snazzy.

tonight, three songs a piece. two shitty originals, and one fave from the competition.

COCA COLA! ryan blew a simple coin toss, and tossed the coin right down a grate that was on stage. stupid, stupid, stupid. and then he tried to tear apart the stage. they brought over some people to get the coin out. eventually, carrie won the toss, and decided to go second. so far, only clay lost the finale while going last. hmmmm....

round 1 - original songs

1) bo - "long, long road". am i the only one thinking john lennon? not performance wise, but the look... well, for a shitty song, he did a decent job at it. one of his absolute worst performances, but that's probably down to the crappy song. i dunno. some girls scream. randy thinks it don't matter what he sings, and he brought it home at the end. j-hud's in da house! and was it camile next to her? paula saw everyone vibing wit it. she's useless. simon still looks snazzy. he says bo looks like his chem teacher. he hated the song. he also thinks it's one of the closest finales they ever had.

2) carrie - "inside your heaven". what a terrible song. she sang it really well. i dunno. what does it mean, to be inside someone's heaven? is it a euphemism for doing the sex? i dunno. it was slightly better than bo, but the song was slightly better than bo's. i dunno. randy thinks the song stunk. carrie smiles, and is cute. he heard pitchines in the first part, but she brought it home in the end, and she can really sing. paula rambles, and is useless. simon thought she was right on the edge, vocally. carrie's so cute.

first round winner: carrie, by not a whole lot.

round 2 - favorite from the season

1) bo - "vehicle" by the ides of march. as is expected with a repeat performance, it doesn't have the impact of the original performance, and isn't as good. that being said, it was MUCH better than the first song he sang tonight. it just worked so much better. some of the appeal of the original performance was that it came as a change up from all the horrible disco that week, and that turned it into something great, but tonight, it's just good. NOW, randy's hapy.

2) carrie - "independence day" by martina mcbride. she had better performances, why pick this one? now THIS is how you reprise a performance. we saw emotions! it was really good. her vocals are as good as ever. better than bo. the difference is that this song works in any "enviroment" of songs performed before and after it. great. really great. randy and paula loved it. simon didn't think it was great, and would have chosen crying, but that's a stupid thing to do, sing the same song two weeks in a row.

second round winner: carrie, again not by a whole lot.

round 3 - original songs

1) bo - "inside your heaven". lol. he had to run to the mic stand to make in time for the first notes he has to sing. lol. it was kinda better than carrie's version. it fits him better, and the arrangement is better. he REALLY should stop walking with the mic stand. he really knows how to emote the song, and connect with the audience, much better than carrie does that. randy reminds us that bo's forever in the dawgpound. how can someone go outside his range? that's impossible. we get some mic problems. paula squeels for joy when simon says he thinks bo did better than carrie on this song.

2) carrie - "angels brought me here" by guy sebastian (the first australian idol). she looks great. we see more emotions from her in this song, than we did the whole season. vocally great. that is a winning performance. just great. one of her best performances. that huge note was hyoooge. tears got her choked up on the last note, but as paula might say, who cares? brandy's in da house. randy gives her a standin' o. paula thinks the scariest thing ever is singing in front of millions of people. paula's a moron. simon thinks she did enough to win. yay!

third round winner: carrie

overall winner: CARRIE! WOOHOO!

we see a recap of the whole season. CAN YOU DIG IT!?!?!? lol at randy's look after simon kisses paula. there is some special attention given to carrie and bo. some. not a lot. george's in da house! carrie's shocked by the size of simon's ego.
