American Idol S04E36 - Top 4

4... (scott's out, finally)

the themes tonight are country and gumble & huff. yay country for carrie!

round 1 - country

1) carrie - "sin wagon" by the dixie chicks. as expected, carrie does great with the country theme. she just seems so much in her element. she's still not performing as well as bo/vonz, but i must say she's improving. the vocals were great, as usual. and she looks so adorable. and her response to randy and simon's comments were so cute. "well, yeah!" lol. CUTE! very good.

john stevens, latoya, jasmine and mikalah are in the audience.

2) bo - "it's a great day to be alive" by travis tritt. his mom can't wait to see what comes out of his mouth next. GROSS! note to self: walking with the mic stand doesn't work on an even slightly slow song. he kinda warbled the lyrics, if that's even a word, but he's probably the second most comfortable of the whole top 12 in this genre. southern rock/country. whatever! it was pretty good. i mean, one of his worst, but still pretty good. randy reminds him he's still in the dawgpound. paula's useless. and simon laughs at her. "that was very boring" "thank you!". lol! lol at bo's grandma.

3) vonzell - "how do i live" by leann rimes. her brothers are stupid. i dunno. it was really working for me. not that country of an arrangement. it was just a'ight for me. she had a problem in the "baby don't you know" part there. she's crying. something's wrong. the judges understand. something happened to her today.

4) anthony - "i'm already there" by lonestar. his mom scares the shit outta me. he is already there. as in - outta here. he can't really overstay the vonz, can he? his usual bland, boring, and generally not good self. worse than baby v, if only because she's not well.

1. carrie
2. bo
3. vonzell
4. anthony

round 2 - gamble & huff

gamble AND huff are in da house.

1) carrie - "if you don't know me by now" by harold melvin & the blue notes. she misses her sisters, and cries. she's adorable. she looks great. they're gonna slam her for going away from the country, aren't they? i thought it was great to hear a different side of her, and i think she did a very good job at it. and they slam her for going away from country.

2) bo - "for the love of the money" by the o'jays. that more like it! just terrific. great, GREAT song choice. and he just did a great job at it, performance wise, vocally, just great. best of the night? quite possibly. lol at simon's trump comment.

3) vonzell - "don't leave me this way" by thelma houston. that's more like it! much better than her first performance. really good. really, really good. randy says she can definitely sing. paula rambles. simon called it manic. and i agree, sorta, with.... simon. though i think, I THINK, that she can sing, as randy said. i think.

4) anthony - "if you don't know me by now" by harold melvin & the blue notes. HOW DARE HE!?!?!?!?!? started kinda rough, for me, but he picked it up. HAND GESTURES!!!! ARGH!!!! he had the same face through out the song. except on that last note, where he looked constipated. i have to disagree with the judges, i don't think it was better than carrie, but it was just a bit worse. lol at simon's comment about soul. lol!

1. bo
2. vonzell
3. carrie
4. anthony

overall ranking:

1. bo
2. carrie
3. vonzell
4. anthony
