the long waited, slightly anti-climactic, finale is finally here! woohoo!
we see diana's journey on idol. randy thinks that she has "the eye of the tiger" in her eyes. right.
1) diana - "i believe". the start was REALLY nice, but the presence of all those choir singers on stage was like a warning that this won't last for too long... as a pretty anti-religous person, the pointing to the sky ticked me off. it got worse and worse as the song continued. average.

2) fantasia - "all my life" by k-ci & jo-jo. stared by... forgetting the lyrics/missing her cue. i'm so sick and tired of her "yeah yeah yeah"s. she can do sooooooooooo much better! i didn't get it, didn't like it, maybe even hated it a bit. randy's right about her screaming and being up-tempo, while the music was slow. paula's an idiot.
first round winner: diana, i guess...
1) diana - "no more tears" by donna summer & barbara streisand. the first repeat performace of the night. for those of you wondering, she didn't REALLY sing her face off... it was just ok. better than the first one, but still not good enough for it to be a winning performance.
2) fantasia - "summertime" by george gershwin. if only on the nostalgic chord being strummed by thos performance, she should win this round. but then again... she tried to duplicate the first performance she gave of this song. and she didn't. still very good, but not as much as the original. she didn't hit the emotional depth she did the first time around. simon's lost it.
second round winner: fantasia
1) diana - "don't cry out loud" by melissa manchester. she just sang this song last week! WHY would she sing it again? all of a sudden, she bores me. she choked on this song, big time. not the actual physical choked, but more mentally. she should have blown it out of the park, but it wasn't even close to being her finest hour.
paula is just USELESS!!!! she tells diana that she didn't do that well, and then says she's still wonderful. how is that helpful to anyone? and also, after the train wreck that was jasmine a couple of weeks back, she, again, after letting her know it wasn't good, says america will forgive her. USELESS.
2) fantasia - "i believe". it seems like this is what tamyra/whoever wrote this song had in mind when they wrote it, and that's really unfair for diana, cause she can't pull it off, unlike fantasia. best of the night. now, THIS is a winning performance.
matt rogers' in the audience, and he's hot after that performance. lol.
third round winner: fantasia
overall winner: fantasia, i guess...
paul anka, again, is doing a special version of "my way", changed for the occasion, and the season.
