tonight, each of the three left contestants sings three songs, one of their choice, one chosen by one of the three judges, and one chosen by mr clive davis.
1) jasmine - "saving all my love" by whitney houston. just ok. paled in comparison, obviously. she looks good. but again, sounded just ok. VERY forgettable.
2) fantasia - "chain of fools" by aretha franklin. GREAT song choice. brilliant. it just worked great, on every level. she did NOT look great. but sounded terrific.
3) diana - "ain't no mountain high enough" by marvin gaye & tammi terrell. TERRIBLE song choice. very sing-along-y, if you know what i mean. it was just ok. better than jasmine, but not by a whole lot.

1) jasmine - "mr. melody" by natalie cole. WHAT is that song???? oh, right, it was paula's choice. the phrasing just didn't sit right with me with. in the "chorus" (?) part she was barely audible, but that might have been a good thing. the skatting was just bad. not great... she always has that smile on her face, like she has absolutely NO idea what everyone wants from her.
2) fantasia - "a fool in love" by ike & tina turner. simon's a bit full of himself. but he's right... absolutely fantastic. the song was a perfect fit for her. her attitude on it was perfect. the things clive did when she danced behind the judges and got to him was just hillarious.
paula was going to take it another step, and take it to another level, at the same time! clive, apparently, doesn't know she's from nc. simon's funny! fantasia's crying.
3) diana - "because you loved me" by celine dion. just a'ight for me. i have no idea what, but SOMETHING was missing. simon's pretty generous - 7 out of 10?

1) jasmine - "all by myslef" by eric carmen. did clive really think it's a good idea to let her sing the same song latoya blew out of the park in the semifinals? the breathing at the top of the song was just UGGGHHH!!!! but somehow, clive pulled it off! i mean, jasmine's the one who sang, and she did a pretty good job at it, but the song choice by clive, i mean, MAN!
2) fantasia - "greatest love of all" by whitney houston. no fool in this song? she just lost all of her uniqueness on it. just a regular version of the song, though it was a good one.
3) diana - "don't cry out loud" by melissa manchester. GREAT song choice. GREAT performance. just great.
