we get a good theme, for a change - elton john!
in a clip, simon admits he's not the best one to judges the top 9 this week, which is incredible in its own merit, and then ELTON JOHN walks in to the room, and works with the contestants on their songs. AWESOME!
1) fantasia - "something about the way you look tonight". elton thought she was amazing. he would have singed her on that day. she's ready to "bring it AWN!". she starts from the crowd. the earrings were odd. the rasp in her voice is sometimes too much. she really needs to stop the "yeah, yeah, yeah" endings, and fast. that was good. actually, really good. the "waaan" (1) was funny.
2) jon - "rocket man". his second elton song in the comp. the start was wierd. jumped up and down in keys, which was wierd. and he tried to dress like sir elton, a thing no one should EVER do. not that good, but not entirely bad.
3) jasmine - "don't let the sun go down on me". third straight season someone did this song. it's getting tiring. some pitch problems throughout. just not good enough.
4) john - "crocodile rock". failure. just oh so bad. the "la-la-la-la-laaaaa" was argueably one of the worst things you'll ever hear. paula doesn't make any sense, but that's not new...
5) camile - "goodbye yellow brick road". one of my favourite elton john songs. ever. she has yet to pick a song that was actually right for her, at least in the finals. the high notes were bad, the lower ones were below average. it looked painful for her. lol at the "elton throwing a tv" comment.
6) george - "take me to the pilot". loved the start where he was backed by just the piano. the squatting is back. there were a lot of na-na-na's. that being said, it still was the best. by a mile. it was just great for him. and he's always surprised when he gets good comments. "thank you, randy, THANK YOU!" lol. lol at simon not being able to say something.
7) diana - "i'm still standing". her voice was shaky. the hi-fivin', talking to the crowd was really uncalled for. hated the song. "bedadeda evedid". one of her weakest performances. about average. and simon has nothing to say. OMG! NO WAY!
8) latoya - "someone saved my life today". sir elton would have also signed her, on the spot. HAND GESTURES!!! ARGH!!! great. fantastic. awesome. not as good as george, but still very very very good.
coca-cola real - one of the hosts/judges, dunno which, of the british pop idol is in the audience. she said she would have loved to have the top 9 back in "their" show. right. she also said simon's ego was about the same in both shows. that makes sense.
9) jennifer - "circle of life". lion king! LOVE IT! the sir was blown away by her. oh. my. god. oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. awesomeness. pure, unspoiled greatness. just brilliant. ok, well maybe it wasn't quite THAT good, but all the chldhood memories that are flooding me right now are clouding my judgement. her best performance ever, and the best tonight.
