American Idol S03E23 - Top 10

10 are left in the running...

tonight they sing songs in the theme of motown. the funk brothers, which apparently had a lot to do with the motown song, will be the backing band tonight. we also get a pair of guest judges, nick ashford and valerie simpson

1) camile - "for once in my life" by stevie wonder. the dancing was pretty bad. and it really distracted from the ok vocals. it was alright. not great, not that bad.

2) jon - "this old heart of mine" by the isley brothers. did anyone actually hear the xylophone? i actually really liked it. might not have been the best performance, but i still liked it. randy gave simon a standing ovation, and then simon gave himself one too. lol.

3) latoya - "ooh baby baby" by smokey robinson & the miracles. her hair didn't really grow that much in the past week. i really don't know what to make of this. it was very good. really, really good. but i just wasn't feeling her. maybe it's just me... paula's laugh is so wierd.

4) amy - "dancing in the street" by martha and the vandellas. i hate this song... she looks really different, somehow. the whole song was in a too low of a key, and the ending was in a too high of a key. odd. what's with the guest judges alternating in commenting on performances? SIMON'S RIGHT! LOL!

5) john - "my girl" by the temptations. the snapping was just so out of place. he was drowned out by the band. just bad. terrible. awful. he just can't croon all the time. the ending was especially bad. nick's scary.

6) jennifer - "(love is like a) heat wave" by martha & the vandellas. didn't get the dog-tags. pretty good. she kept her voice more in-check, but she can still do better. i liked simon's description of it.

7) jasmine - "you're all i need to get by" by marvin gaye & tammi terrell. she looks great tonight. didn't care much for the arrangement. but i liked it. controled. nice. very, very nice. best yet? yep.

8) diana - "do you love my" by the contours. ugh. the talking start was bad. the rest wasn't much better. i hate this song now. when paula's saying she can blow, is that supposed to be a compliment?

9) fantasia - "i heard it through the grapevine" by marvin gaye. that sweater was horrendous. the yeah-yeah ending was forced, and unnecessary. great. really good. just great.

10) george - "ain't too proud to beg" by the temptations. great song for his voice. just great. terrific. best yet. awesome!
